If you have a shadowban on Instagram your posts won’t be seen by anyone that isn’t already following you. You won’t be shown up in feeds, no matter how many hashtags you use, and not only will your pictures and videos not show up in Instagram search results, but your actual account won’t show up either.
If you use the hashtag #Sunday, your pictures won’t come up when someone clicks on the tag. You won’t come up in searches. It will be IMPOSSIBLE to increase your following whilst on an Instagram shadowban, unless you buy your followers. I heavily advise against this, and I’ve listed a few reasons why here > Buying Followers … Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Do It
There are lots of ways you might accidentally find yourself with a shadowban on Instagram. I’ve gone into what I’ve learned about it here > What Will Get You Shadow Banned on Instagram?
It could be the simplest of things, from overusing the same hashtags, to repeated reports on your pictures, but they all amount to the same thing. You won’t be able to grow your following. You won’t even be seen by anyone who ISN’T following your account already. It’s going to be a slow slug from here on out, especially if you don’t realise you’ve been banned and continually make the same mistakes.
Live it, learn it, that’s what I say.
I’ve done some more research into this and there also appears to be another reason why you might find yourself with one of these shadow bans on Instagram …
If you have recently changed your personal account to a business one, you probably will get shadow banned. Why? No one knows. No one knows this is even the case “officially”, but I seem to find more and more evidence (other bloggers and businesses saying the same thing) to support this theory. So, if you’ve just made this change from a personal to a business account and your likes have decreased dramatically on Instagram posts, you may have found your answer.
Instagram is a constantly-evolving social network, and its changes to the algorithm can be detrimental if you aren’t on top of them. It will only be AFTER you have made the mistakes that you realise you’ve been penalised. It’s then a case of working out which mistakes you’ve made and how to avoid making them in the future. It’s not easy when the goal posts are constantly changing. Thanks for that, Instagram …
