What’s one of the problems you’re faced with when trying to ‘be’ a blogger? One of my biggest problems is time — there’s just NOT enough of it. I accept too much work and then struggle to get everything done in time, but that’s just the way I roll. Working better under pressure. I also find the least time-consuming way to do EVERYTHING, and that’s how I managed to come up with these eight 10-minute ways to boost blog traffic.

Eight 10-Minute Ways to Boost Blog Traffic
All of these blog promo ideas take ten minutes or less. Some of them even cover one or two different blog posts in the same hack, and each hack brings you one step closer to your reader-number goals. In order to get those numbers higher, you’re going to need to learn how to promote your blog, even if that means doing it while you’re on the loo during your lunch break! (Thank the good Lord for mobile internet!)

1: A Social Media Roundup Post
It doesn’t matter what kind or niche of blogger you are, there will always be a way that you can bring a collection of blog posts together to create one single ’roundup’ style post. Don’t believe me? Tell me your blog niche and I’ll come up with a few suggestions. Better yet, send me your blog link and I’ll find a collection of posts you can ’roundup’ together.
These roundup posts offer you a way to direct traffic to more than one blog post at once, all on the same subject. One example of this is the blog post you’re reading right now. It’s a ’roundup’ post. There are existing posts that cover some of these topics in a lot more detail already on my blog. This one works as a way to direct you to the ones you need or want to read. It’s a bit like a table of contents.

2: Check Blog Keywords
… in as many blog posts as you can fit in, in ten minutes. For me, it’s two blog posts in ten minutes, depending on the length. (But I do keywords and SEO stuff as I go, making my own life so much easier.)
If you want a really quick way of checking your keyword/SEO of blog posts, I recommend downloading Yoast SEO — a free WordPress plugin. From the ‘All Posts’ page of WordPress, you can see the SEO status of each post with a green, orange, and red light system. You can simply scan down each page, looking for the ones that are NOT optimised for SEO (red light), and make the applicable tweaks to fix that (green light).

3: Scheduled + Prepared
Do you schedule?
Do you know what social media scheduling is?
It’s great, honestly. Probably one of the best things ever to happen to social media … if you’re a blogger.
Social media scheduling is a way of setting up posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, so that things go live on your feed even though you’re not around to hit that publish button. There are plenty of tools that you can use to do this, some of which are free and some of which you need to pay for.
Facebook has a built-in scheduling tool that’s totally free to use. You can schedule social media posts on there so that they go live in the middle of the night when you’re sleeping, or when you’re at work in the middle of the morning, or even when you’re on the train home and can’t get signal. It means that you can have your links shared on social media even though you’re not actually doing it, and that generates traffic ‘behind your back’.
It also means that you can play around with times that you wouldn’t usually post and then note down your results. If the post does well and generates lots of likes and comments, you know you’ve found yourself a good time to post in the future. Schedule more posts for that particular time.
If the post doesn’t do well, with very few engagements, you know that it’s not the best time to post.
💫 Social Media Scheduling Tools:
If you want a tool for Twitter scheduling, you should check out Later or Hootsuite. You can use both for Instagram scheduling, too, and they offer also automatic posting. This is a relatively new thing. Before, you would need to copy/paste the Instagram caption before posting it yourself, after the app sent your phone a notification/reminder. It can do it all for you now, but you can’t tag other Instagram accounts in the image itself when you set it to auto-post.
Tailwind is a fabulous tool for Pinterest scheduling, and using it has allowed me to grow my blog from 6,000 MUV or Monthly Unique Viewers, to over 117,000. I get most of my traffic from search engines (Google), but there are a few days when Pinterest sends the most people my blog’s way. 4: The Big Link
… because it’s a case of who you know, not what you know.
Add a high-quality link to your blog posts. All of them. One by one, ticking the posts off as you go if necessary. You might get one or two done in ten minutes, but that’s still one or two more than what you started with before you read this blog post, right?
When you link to high-quality websites — blogs and sites that have a higher DA (domain authority) than you, search engines start to recognise that you’re linking to the good stuff. You’ll look a bit better by association.
Getting links back to your blog is important too, of course, but this is a really good place to start.
5: An Infographic
I created the following infographic for this blog post, using Easil, in about 15 minutes. I used Canva for designy-stuff for the longest time, but I’m finding that other bloggers are starting to jump on the same bandwagon. A lot of the pins I see on Pinterest are starting to look the same as each other. I looked around for an alternative, with new templates that I hadn’t already seen on social media. That’s how I came across Easil, and I’ve been addicted to playing around with it ever since. (You’ll probably have noticed that I started pinning more infographics to my Pinterest boards!)
Infographics get repinned a lot on Pinterest, and even my ‘crappiest’ designs have done remarkably well. Much better than I’d hoped, anyway. I’m experimenting with my newer designs right now, and I’ll keep you updated with how they do (along with tips n’ tricks) in future blog posts. Keep your eyes peeled, folks!
6: A Brand New Pin
Do you ever create Pinterest promo pins for your blog posts? I’ve spoken to a few bloggers lately who’ve said they don’t use Pinterest enough, and I created a few blog posts with some tips n’ tricks to make everything much easier to understand which you’ll find HERE. I wholeheartedly understand how daunting it is – and how overwhelming – to try and learn a new social media strategy when it seems like everyone else has already mastered it before you.
Again, Canva is a really great and free tool that you can use to create Pinterest pins. This is one that I created using it, for this blog post:
7: Change Is Good
Find one blog post that is performing really badly. Like, super badly. Take a good hard look at it. Ask yourself the following three questions:
1. Have you done number 4 on this list yet and added a link to a high-quality website or blog?
2. Is there at least one super awesome image in the blog post?
3. Does the title suck?
Yeah, number 3 is a killer, right? If your title reads something along the lines of:
“5 Apps I Use to Blog”
You need to spice it up. A crappy title isn’t going to be the only reason a blog post performs badly, but if it doesn’t have a good title, it’s not going to lure people in.
Instead of the crappy, boring title above, liven things up. Here are a few suggestions:

- 5 Awesome Blogging Apps That You’ll Kick Yourself For Not Using
- Top 5 Apps For Super Smart Bloggers

8: Traffic Source Sorting
Where do you get most of your traffic from? Twitter? Pinterest? Facebook? Search engines?
For me, it’s usually Pinterest or search engines.
For my vaping website, it’s usually search engines or Twitter.
Jetpack (a free WordPress plugin) helps me work out where my traffic is coming from, but there’s a bunch of other ways. Google Analytics is pretty good, but it confuses me a lot.
When you know which social media platforms or other traffic sources are working for you, you can focus your attention on the ones that aren’t. It shouldn’t take you much longer than a few minutes (especially using Jetpack stats) to figure out which social media platform is letting the side down, and then you can tweak your marketing strategy so that it performs better.
