Hello, lovelies! How are you all doing today? The very nice people over at Glamour Beauty Club recently sent me a wonderful new product to try – L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel, and the cutest little 8ml tub of it too. If you’ve ever met me, you’ll know how obsessed I get over miniatures. The travel aisle of Superdrug always has my hands twitching … I want to buy it all.
Anyway, squealing over the adorable size of this sample pack over and done with, I figured I should actually use the face gel, rather than just look at it. The directions state to use it every morning and night, avoiding the eyes. So I did.
L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel Review
I decided to do absolutely zero research on this product before I used it. Why? Because I didn’t want to know what it supposedly was meant to do; I wanted to know what it REALLY did. I very often buy into the hype of a new beauty product because of the anti-ageing/anti-wrinkle/collagen-busting/skin-smoothing/eye-brightening/glowing properties that I read about and sometimes … Well, I just find myself really disappointed with the product because of all these promises that were made that I then feel are broken.
Rather than do the same thing, I figured I would use L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel for a few days and see if I noticed any difference instead. I don’t know what it’s *meant* to do, so there’s nothing specific I’m looking out for. There’s no chance of me convincing myself that the product is getting rid of my wrinkles even when it really isn’t then … I do that a lot, much to the detriment of my bank balance.
This is L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel journey:
The smell of this face gel reminds me of a body lotion that I once used to get from Marks & Spencer. I’m pretty sure it came as a perfume, body lotion, and shower gel gift pack, with a really bright, light, summery fragrance, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name of it. It was really was lovely though; just like this face gel.
Bright, light and summery – three perfect words to describe the smell, and there’s quite a lot of it too. I could still smell this on my face a couple of hours later, even with a bit of light makeup on over the top.
The ‘gel’ in the name gives the game away – L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel has a gel-like formulation that really does glide over the skin. I’ve noticed that other face gels can leave a slight tackiness to my hands and face after I rub it in, but this one doesn’t. It’s easily absorbed, especially by my poor moisture-deprived skin, and it rubs in nicely. After 30 seconds to a minute, it’s pretty much dried and your face is ready for the next layer.
What Happened Next?
I only had a dinky little 8ml tub, so my sample of L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel wasn’t exactly going to last for very long. I think I managed about 5 or 6 days, using it both morning and night, but I did notice a few really good things:
1⃣ – My skin felt delightful after just one application. Not like, transformed or anything, but perhaps a tad revitalised? I have combination skin and it’s a real pain in the ass. There are days when my skin feels really nice and soft and then, three days later, it’s so tight that I can barely make a facial expression. At other times, my skin is super oily and I can’t use half the products in my makeup bag. I’m assuming it has something to do with my menstrual cycle. Either way, my L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel was the perfect combination of everything I needed to keep my face happy.
👉 On dry skin days, this thirst-quenching gel really does thirst-quench. Instantly.
👉 On oily skin days, the formulation seems to cleanse a little. My face felt so much better after I used this gel on the oily skin days.
👉 On spotty, period-ravaged days, the formulation soothed my sore skin, especially as I kept the little tub in the fridge. I LOVE keeping these gel formulation products in the fridge; it really helps to add to the revitalise-factor!
2⃣ – I seemed to find that my foundation took a little better after using this cream (and then letting it dry). I’m having major foundation dramas right now. I can’t find what I’m looking for. I don’t even know what I’m looking for, but I do know that I haven’t found it yet. The foundation I used during the week of sampling the L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel seemed to last longer before separating – the biggest issue I had with it.
3⃣ – My face definitely looked more radiant and glowing towards the end of the week that I used L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel. Not shiny or oily, but … glowing; sunshine glowing almost. My pores just looked a little better, something I found easy to spot in selfies. I think my makeup looked a little better in general too.
L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel – The Conclusion
I guess I’d better look at what this face gel actually promises to do, now that I’ve told you what it was like using the product for a week.
“Enriched with hydrating hyaluronic acid and calcium-rich Réotier water known for its properties to help skin maintain its hydration barrier and retain moisture, this ultra-fresh face moisturiser contains thousands of micro-bubbles that instantly recharge skin with water.”
L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel definitely hydrated my face. I wholeheartedly agree with that. I also love the phrase, “micro-bubbles”. It reminds me of that “flat white” coffee advert on TV right now: micro-bubba-bubbles.
“Its formula glides onto skin to act like a magnet to hold-in moisture and drench the skin all day long.“
Yep, I’m agreeing with the gliding formulation too, and I think this gel definitely kept my skin feeling relatively refreshed for the whole day. Things are looking really good so far!
“Skin’s natural hydration is improved; it is immediately recharged with water. Replenished and radiant, skin is visibly plumped.”
Replenished and radiant I DO agree with, but I’m not so sure on plumped. My pores looked better, but I don’t actually know if my skin seemed plumper than usual. I did only use it for a week or so; perhaps a few more weeks of use would have yielded better results?
Available at L’Occitane £28 / 50ml.
I actually don’t think that’s a bad price for this face gel. Thirst-quenching it is, and I will definitely buy it again.
L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel – 5/5 stars for me! A face gel I will now be using every day.
